Las Margaritas is owned by siblings, Rigoberto and Luis Eduardo Herrera, third-generation coffee producers, who come from a long-standing coffee-producing family. Their grandparents started their careers in coffee in 1945 at Potosi farm. After Juan Antonio Herrera and his wife Blanca Ligia Correa purchased the land with existing Typica plants, they added three more cultivars: Red Bourbon, Yellow Bourbon, and Caturra. It was then that Cafe Granja La Esperanza began. 

When Rigoberto and Luis took over the family operation in the late '90s, they took on the labour-intensive job of pivoting the farms to organic production. Shortly after taking over, they purchased the land that is now Finca La Esperanza and expanded their organic coffee production.

Rigoberto and Luis have done major renovations to the farms during the past 30 years of ownership and management, planting new, exotic varieties throughout the 52 producing hectares of Potosi Farm. At Las Margaritas, they produce classic Colombian varieties like Caturra, Colombia, Tabi. As well as beautiful exotics such as Geisha, Sidra, San Juan, Mandela, SL28 and more. 

On top of industry-leading farm practices, they're also innovating the world of coffee processing, constantly exploring new techniques and processes to bring their coffees to a whole other level.

Granja la Esperanza has nearly 5 hectares of Sudan Rume planted at their Las Margaritas farm, close to many other exotic coffee varieties they've invested in. Though the yields are low and the Sudan Rume varietal is susceptible to disease, the cup quality is of exceptional quality thanks to meticulous attention to detail.

Las Margaritas appartient aux frères Rigoberto et Luis Eduardo Herrera, producteurs de café de troisième génération, issus d'une famille de producteurs de café de longue date. Leurs grands-parents ont commencé leur carrière dans le café en 1945 à la ferme Potosi. Après que Juan Antonio Herrera et sa femme Blanca Ligia Correa ont acheté le terrain avec des plantes Typica existantes, ils ont ajouté trois autres cultivars : Red Bourbon, Yellow Bourbon et Caturra. C'est alors que le Café Granja La Esperanza a commencé.

Lorsque Rigoberto et Luis ont repris l'exploitation familiale à la fin des années 90, ils ont entrepris la tâche à forte intensité de main-d'œuvre de faire pivoter les fermes vers la production biologique. Peu de temps après avoir pris le relais, ils ont acheté le terrain qui est maintenant Finca La Esperanza et ont développé leur production de café biologique.

Rigoberto et Luis ont effectué d'importantes rénovations dans les fermes au cours des 30 dernières années de propriété et de gestion, en plantant de nouvelles variétés exotiques sur les 52 hectares de production de Potosi Farm. À Las Margaritas, ils produisent des variétés colombiennes classiques comme Caturra, Colombia, Tabi. Ainsi que de belles exotiques telles que Geisha, Sidra, San Juan, Mandela, SL28 et plus encore.

En plus des pratiques agricoles à la pointe de l'industrie, ils innovent également dans le monde de la transformation du café, explorant constamment de nouvelles techniques et de nouveaux procédés pour amener leurs cafés à un tout autre niveau.

Granja la Esperanza possède près de 5 hectares de rhum soudanais plantés dans leur ferme de Las Margaritas, à proximité de nombreuses autres variétés de café exotiques dans lesquelles ils ont investi. Bien que les rendements soient faibles et que le cépage Sudan Rume soit sensible aux maladies, la qualité de la tasse est de qualité exceptionnelle grâce à une attention méticuleuse aux détails.
