San Pedro Necta is a collection of coffees from various small producers in the area. They are part of a project called Txo'l Witz, which is a project that was started 7 years ago after some really interesting samples from the area were discovered at Bella Vista Coffee. These samples peaked a curiosity for the special taste for the coffees growing in the area. Txo'l Witz stems from the Mam language which means "between hills", an expression that is used to indicate where the producing partners in this project are located.
The goal of this project is to improve quality year after year, helping their small producers reach better market opportunities. Their work plan includes regular visits to the farms, land measurements, training programs and field trips. Some of the activities included in these trainings are agricultural and wet mill practices, and developing cup quality. Like many others in the coffee industry, 2020 was a challenging year as Coronavirus had major impacts on their ability to conduct any of their regular trainings. But, as soon as possible, the plan is to pick up where they left of and get back on track with their project plans.
