A new year has historically been a cause for reflection, goal setting, and purpose driven thought. Things are no different here at Epoch Chemistry as we challenged ourselves this year to really question what is the tasting experience and what do we want to achieve with it.
First, let’s start with some history. The Epoch Tasting Experience began in late July of 2020 as a way for us to begin educating a few choice individuals on what makes Epoch Chemistry coffee special. Why is transparency so important? How do I actually brew excellent, consistent coffee?
What enveloped was an all encompassing, new business model in coffee centered around community, conversation, and contemplation. After 2.5 years we have seen over 10,000 tasters, ran over 1000 tasting sessions, and began to change the landscape of Maritime coffee tradition.
We see all of this as massive successes but as we have also become more and more educated we want to do more.

We want to focus more on the people who grow our coffee, connecting communities around the world, and help empower coffee consumers on how best to find that PERFECT cup for you. We will be covering sourcing, pricing, transparency, tasting notes, process, varietals and brewing. Finding sustainable producers who are pursuing excellence and celebrating that right here in Moncton. This tasting is still fun for everyone, and is designed to engage beginner to specialty professionals alike.
Starting with the largest producing country in the world, infamously consistent and delicious, BRAZIL. All the coffees in the tasting experience will be extracted using one coffee, which is so fun to see how different the same origin can be through different brew methods.
Our first course will be a comparison between a cold brew brazil, and a hot drip coffee (both brewed on the ground CTRL).
You will be using our top of the line equipment to brew a beautiful V60 alongside our tasting staff, while we walk you through how to perfect that coffee routine and maximize your beans. This is often the preferred method of specialty coffee enthusiasts and we are so excited to show you how to build that everyday recipe.
Brazilian espresso is a mainstay in 95+% of the world’s cafes and we want to show you why. Learn the origin of espresso, why Brazilian coffee is so well suited to it, and how to get rid of those pesky channels that are holding you back from a more delicious morning.
Finally, we always end with a signature beverage. Something to elevate and excite the palate. We don’t want to give too much away but we are drawing upon our experiences in coffee competitions and cocktails alike!
